International Travel & Urinary Tract Infections or How I Learned to Love a Pint.

Several years ago N and I vacationed with Z and Tiny E.  We flew into London for a few days and then hopped a cheap EasyJet flight up to Inverness.  From there we rode ScotRail out to the Isle of Skye, back down to Aviemore

and then into Edinburgh.  We spent one or two nights in Edinburgh and then rode EasyJet back to London and our connection home.  We didn't have time to arrange for fishing or to follow the "Whisky Trail".  But, being who we are, we did manage to visit the River Spey, drink a few wee drams and snack on some fantastic smoked salmon.

I didn't go out our second day in Inverness as I felt poorly.  Everyone else had a fine day walking around town and eating in pubs.  I, on the other hand, enjoyed a fun day of pain and difficulty peeing.  I drank a lot of water and toughed it out so that we could continue on with our trip.  A week later we were in Edinburgh and getting ready to come home.  We toured the city and walked up & down the Royal Mile.  The entire time I felt like I was about to pee myself.  It got to the point where I was having to find a toilet every block or two.  The most convenient places to duck into and pee were pubs.  It just so happens that Z and I are great fans of pubs and find a lot of pleasure in a pint of Guinnness or a real ale.  So, since I was running into pubs every 15 minutes or so we thought, "we might as well have a pint as long as we're here".  And that is how I began circling a Scottish drain.  The exact process was... get a urinary tract infection, feel the constant need to pee, drink beer, repeat steps 2 and 3.
